Abstract

ABSTRACT

The advent of social media has significantly transformed the political landscape, contributing to the fragmentation of political parties across the globe. This study explores how social media platforms have altered traditional party structures and dynamics, leading to increased polarization and the emergence of niche political movements. By enabling rapid information dissemination and facilitating direct communication between politicians and constituents, social media has empowered individuals to engage in political discourse outside established party frameworks. Consequently, this shift has resulted in a decline of party loyalty, as voters increasingly gravitate toward candidates and platforms that resonate with their specific interests and values. The research employs a comparative analysis of case studies from various countries to illustrate the impact of social media on political party cohesion and electoral strategies. Additionally, it examines the challenges posed by misinformation and echo chambers, which further exacerbate divisions within the political spectrum. Ultimately, this study highlights the need for political parties to adapt to the changing media environment, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy and strategic communication to maintain relevance in an increasingly fragmented political landscape.
